Art has been a form of personal expression for me since my childhood. If I couldn’t have a certain experience, I put it down on a piece of paper. Whether it be a drawing or a comic book. My art focuses on the surreal outlook of life that is formed by inspiration and everyday accomplishments that we experience as human beings in unseen communities. In this series, my journey that is reflected is based on change, growth, and healing. As a member of the LGBTQ community, the Black community, and also as a woman, I have witnessed and experienced forms of discrimination, passive aggression, and common displays of discomfort through my presence around multiple groups of people. I once was hurt by this, but as time went by and I visualized these emotions, I figured out a way to visualize a solution. My Art Heals senior thesis series touches on grief, social justice milestones, and moments of self-discovery.
